Rheumatology and

Musculo-skeletal Clinic

Welcome

The Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Clinic was established by two physicians, Dr Kenneth Orr, and Dr Fraser Burling.  Dr Orr was a Physician and Physical Medicine specialist with over 50 years’ experience and he worked up until the age of 92 before retiring in 2014.  He died in 2016.   Dr Burling (Dip MSM, FRACP) is an Internal Medicine Physician and Rheumatologist, continuing Dr Orr’s long legacy in musculoskeletal medicine.

I am particularly interested in Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, and in chronic soft tissue injuries.  Treatment of chronic work and sports injuries and occupational overuse problems, such as injuries to the back, neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist, pelvic girdle, knee, and foot.  ACC patients, and patients with a diagnosis of fibromyalgia are also welcome.  As an Internal Medicine Physician and Rheumatologist, I also see patients with general medical problems and rheumatic diseases.

I use a combination of therapies to help most patients.  These include the use of standard pharmaceuticals, nutrition, injection techniques with corticosteroids and prolotherapy (sclerosant therapy), and mobilization techniques.

This web site www.prolotherapy.co.nz  provides information on some of the common diagnoses and treatments available, and links to other sites for some of the common rheumatological problems and treatments.  For further information, or to make an appointment, you may contact us at:
